Winter White

It has been rather drizzly in New York lately...

Don't try this at home - wearing white in the rain.

But do try wearing white in winter, which is sure to brighten up the gloomiest day.

Digging up pieces from your warm weather wardrobe can also bring cheer in dreary weather, especially if it involves lace bell sleeves.

After you're good and drenched, don't forget to make an escape from the cold and indulge with a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

Dear old Duke

I can't take a trip home without stopping by my alma mater...

...and checking out the smattering of new(ish) establishments that make Durham evocative of what Brooklyn was perhaps once going for...

...like this locally revered donut shop

I rattled off about three flavors before blurting out "one of each!"

The Duke gardens can't be missed either. There were two brides taking pictures that day, and of course, me.

And you can't forget the majestic Duke chapel

I could have used these back in the day...

These vintage culottes were a score from my mom's closet. She has a treasure trove of stylish pieces from the 80's and early 90's

We ended the fabulous day with light libations at a local brewery, Ponysaurus

I can always count on my home state of North Carolina to deliver the best fall foliage

I find all saints to be an authority on to-die-for leather jackets, and this taupe jacket is no exception

These beautiful Reiss heels were a bargain find at a sample sale and are exceptionally comfortable.
